In the last post, we established that LDL cholesterol is the “bad” form of cholesterol which in excess amounts is associated with heart disease, the leading cause of death in the world.

Although it’s important to prevent high LDL cholesterol levels by reducing relevant risk factors (like eliminating an unhealthy diet or by cutting that smoking habit), it’s also important to know which foods can lower LDL cholesterol naturally and put that to use. Here is a list of such heart-healthy foods, so that next time you go out shopping you won’t forget to add them to your cart:

  1. Avocados
  2. Vegetables, including carrots and eggplants
  3. Whole grains like barley and oats
  4. Berries and fruits
  5. Garlic
  6. Legumes like lentils and peas
  7. Dark leafy greens like spinach or kale
  8. Extra virgin olive oil
  9. Green tea, but also white and black tea

These foods are good to add to your diet since they can lower LDL cholesterol, so try to prioritise them if you can. For more nutrition-related content, get our free ebook, Mindful Eating, by signing up for our health-focused newsletter https://MyHealthyPotential.com/newsletter
